Ala Moana Shopping Center
One of the nation's largest open-air malls is five minutes from Waikiki by bus. Designer shops in residence include Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Gianni Versace, and Emporio Armani. All of Hawai'i's major department stores are here, including Neiman Marcus, Sears, and Macy's. More than 240 stores and 60 restaurants make up this 50-acre complex. One of the most interesting shops is Shanghai Tang. First opened in Hong Kong, the store imports silks and other fine fabrics, and upholds the tradition of old-style Shanghai tailoring. To get to the mall from Waikiki, catch TheBus lines 8, 19, or 20; a one-way ride is $2. Or hop aboard the Waikiki Trolley's pink line, which comes through the area every half-hour.
