Age: 26
Years surfing: Uh, none consistently for at least the past 6 years. But maybe 10 years before that.
Favorite surf break: Waiuli in Hilo, where I learned to tumble and hold my breath.
Favorite Duke Kahanamoku story: I really just like the idea that he left behind that being Hawaiian you have a cultural as well as a physical connection to the land here and people from before. With that you can get golds, travel the world, be an icon and have your memories live long after you pass away.
Up-and-coming surfer: Why, me, if you need someone to laugh at out there. Nah, nah. I like that kid Kekoa and Robert Patterson out of Hilo.
Advice for beginning surfers: Surfing can be used as a escape from day-to-day life and can be very peaceful. And on another note, don't take off infront of any of the uncles...might disturb that peace.
Is it ever too late to learn? Never too late for anything. Just make sure you can at least walk.
