Event. The 15th annual Kona Brewers Festival takes place Saturday, March 13, 2010 on the shores of Kailua Bay on Hawaii Island.  The event's mission is to promote the craft brewing revolution in Hawaii and to encourage professional brewers and chefs to work together and create a positive economic, educational and environmental impact on Hawaii's largest island.  more

Event. The Waikiki Aquarium lawn will be transformed into a play patch and egg hunting ground for the 15th annual Waikiki Aquarium SeaHunt on Saturday, March 27, 2010.  Registration required. more

Event.  Parts of Waikiki's main drag, Kalakaua Avenue, will again close to one of Waikiki's biggest festivals--SpamJam.  That's right, this is a celebration of all things Spam.  This year's celebration of the canned luncheon "meat" takes place April 24, 2010, from 4 to 10 p.m.

Event. The 5th annual Hawaii Book & Music Festival takes place May 15-16, 2010. The event features authors and musicians and celebrates literacy.  more

Event. New, a four-day festival celebrating Hawaiian music.  The first annual Na Hoku O Hawaii Music Festival centers around the prestigious Na Hoku HanoHano Music Awards and will take place at the Hawaii Convention Center in Honolulu as well as various Waikiki venues, May 27 - 30, 2010.  Musicians scheduled to perform include past award winners and nominees: Amy Hanaialii, Jake Shimabukuro, Henry Kapono, Cyril Pahinui and Kaumakaiwa Kanakaole.  more

Event. Outrigger Enterprises Group's popular Sunday Showcase afternoon tradition continues with special musical entertainment line-up for March and April. The Sunday Showcase is a free weekly program which takes place at the Waikiki Beach Walk stage plaza every Sunday afternoon (weather permitting) from 5:00pm to 6:00 pm. The weekly performances draw both locals and visitors who gather on the lawn at Waikiki Beach Walk to relax and enjoy some of the islands best island performers as well as up and coming artists, with shows ranging from Hawaiian, to jazz, to local island folk songs, contemporary, R&B and much more. more 

Event.  One of the most quintessential Hawaiian experiences you can have is to hang out near the beach with family and friends along with great local food and great island music. That’s what’s in store in 2010 with the Outrigger Reef’s Aloha Friday luncheon shows at the Kani Ka Pila Grille. News.  Outrigger Enterprises Group received the inaugural "Green Leader Award" from Reynolds Recycling for being top recycling and sustainability leaders in Hawai'i's tourism industry.  Outrigger's owned and operated hotels in Waikiki have prevented over 48,000 pounds of recyclable material from entering Honolulu's landfill by recovering more than one million beverage containers from their guest rooms since 2006.  more 

News.  If you like birds, you'll be interested to know that the Laysan albatrosses are back to breed and raise chicks at Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge on Kauai.  "The Point," as we call it, is a seabird haven.  To learn more about the birds at The Point, we created a new video for you.  Click more to view it.

News.  U.S. residents identify Hawaii is the third-most desired state to live in, according to the Harris Poll, by Harris Interactive.  When asked where they would choose to live if they did not reside in the state in which they now called home,  poll respondents chose California, Florida, Hawai'i, Texas and Colorado, respectively.  Is it the sun?  Surf?  Air?  Visit our Facebook page and weigh in with your thoughts on why Hawai'i is such a popular place to live.  more

Trends.  The percentage of travelers planning to volunteer while on their vacation jumped from 6 percent to 11, from 2007 to 2008, according to travel Web site Travelocity. Other research puts the number much higher. According to a UC San Diego survey that polled more than 1,400 U.S. adults, about 40 percent of Americans say they're willing to spend several weeks on vacation that involve volunteer service. According to Bob Benson, director of the Center for Global Volunteer Service at UC San Diego Extension, "More and more people in all stages of life are thinking about becoming 'voluntourists'.
